ITU Approves Standard for Universal Phone Charger
In an effort to reduce the waste associated with mobile phones, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has approved a new standard for a universal phone charger that would not only work with multiple models but operate in an energy-efficient manner. The GSMA provided input on the standard, which is said to reduce standby energy consumption by 50 percent and eliminate the need for 51,000 tonnes (metric tons) of redundant chargers. More...
